BrentwoodLocated west of the 405 freeway, Brentwood, along with Pacific Palisades, is among the most desirable, high-end neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Well-to-do, well educated people buy expensive homes, often with views of the city and ocean, in this bedroom community with easy freeway access. Brentwood is beautifully landscaped, and cooled by ocean breezes. Brentwood is home to the J. Paul Getty Museum of Art, the Skirball Cultural Center, and Mount Saint Mary’s College. Neighborhood shopping is available on San Vicente Blvd. To the north of Brentwood are the mountains. To the east and west are exclusive, multimillion dollar homes in the communities of Bel Air and Pacific Palisades, respectively. To the south of Brentwood are the more affordable, but still highly desirable, neighborhoods of West Los Angeles, Westwood, and Santa Monica. On the north flank of Brentwood are the extensive grounds of the MountainGate Country Club, accessible via the 405 freeway. Other area attractions include the Riviera Country Club and the Brentwood Country Club to the south, and the popular nightlife of Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade and trendy shops along Montana Avenue to the southwest. Easily accessible are miles of well kept coastal beaches beginning 4 miles from the heart of Brentwood. Just to the west of Brentwood is Will Rogers State Park and Polo Field, where horses can be boarded and ridden over the backcountry trails. Local shopping is available at Brentwood Country Mart and Brentwood Place, and mall shopping at Santa Monica Place is a few minutes away. To the east of Brentwood are the UCLA campus and Medical Center, the UCLA/Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center, and the newly revitalized Westwood shopping district, all of which offer local employment.
